Clear-out: Commit: Campaign! That's the challenge.

X million people are exploited every day within the clothing industry, and the shocking truth is that many of our wardrobes are full of clothes made by those very people. Could it be that we are the exploiters? A sobering thought, and yet one which presents us with an amazing opportunity... The opportunity to clear-out our old clothing, commit to buying clothes that give producers a fair wage, and campaign so that our favourite shops would be pushed to reform their standards. Check-out 'the challenge' page to learn exactly what the clothing challenge involves, and add your name to the challenger community. Restoration of the clothing industry is possible, but it starts with the restoration of each one of our hearts and each one of our wardrobes...

the challenge

Take up the challenge to restore your wardrobe, and bring justice through the clothes that you buy!

The challenge has 3 steps: Clear-out, Committment and Campaign
  1. Clear-out Get out all your clothes and seperate out everything that doesn't have the Fair-Trade (or equivalent) label, or that hasn't been re-distributed (e.g. from a charity shop or friend) or recycled*. Either give those things away, or turn their fabric into something beautiful and give it as a gift
  2. Committment Commit to buying only Fair-Trade, redistributed or recylced clothing* from now on
  3. Campaign Write a letter to the clothing companies of the clothes that you love, telling them what you've done and why, and that you would love to be able to shop again in the stores one day in the future if they can ensure fairly-traded goods. Go to the 'write your letters' page for more ideas of what to write
* You might want to include things that people have given as a gift, this is up to you!
